Hotel near Swords Abbey

The Round Tower of Swords Abbey in North County Dublin is the only remnant of the monastery first founded by St. Columba in the 6th century. The 14th century square tower belonged to the now-vanished medieval abbey.

The church building on the left which is still in use by the local Church of Ireland congregation dates from 18th century.  After the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 the bodies of King Brian Boru and his son, Morrough, were rested overnight in the abbey.

If you are a fan of historical sites or simply just looking for a local attraction, then Swords Abbey might just be the thing for you.

Make a full event of it and stay overnight in Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport, where you are sure to get great value deals.
